Supplements for Perimenopause
Perimenopause is a transitional phase that can bring hot flashes, mood swings, fatigue, brain fog, and more. Supporting your body nutritionally can ease the process.
Perimenopause is the phase leading up to menopause, when your hormones, especially oestrogen and progesterone, begin to fluctuate. It typically starts in your 40s (but can begin earlier) and can last several years. During this time, you might notice changes to your cycle, sleep, mood, energy, and more. It’s your body’s natural shift toward the end of reproductive years, and support during this phase can make a big difference.
1. Magnesium Glycinate
Great for sleep, anxiety, and nervous system regulation. Most women are deficient, and this form is gentle on digestion.
2. Adaptogenic Herbs (like Ashwagandha or Rhodiola)
These herbs help regulate the stress response (hello, cortisol!) and can ease symptoms like irritability and fatigue. Choose based on your individual symptoms, as not all adaptogens will be right for everyone (this is where I can help!).
3. Omega-3s (DHA + EPA)
Supports mood, brain health, and inflammation. Bonus: also helps dry skin and joints.
Always personalise based on your symptoms, medications, and test results. And remember, lifestyle shifts like reducing caffeine and improving sleep can make supplements even more effective.
Perimenopause can feel like a rollercoaster - physically, mentally, and emotionally. From mood swings and brain fog to disrupted sleep, weight changes, and low energy, it’s a time of transition that deserves support, not confusion.
As a women’s health nutritionist, I help you navigate perimenopause with clarity and confidence, using personalised nutrition to support your hormones, nervous system, gut, and long-term health. You don’t need to do this alone - or put up with feeling “off.”
