Why You Are Experiencing Hair Loss.

Hair loss is a very common (but not normal!) symptom I see with my clients. I have also experienced YEARS of hair loss myself (a lovely combination of PCOS x thyroid x iron), so I really do understand that it is arguably one of the most traumatic symptoms you can experience. ESPECIALLY as very few people take it seriously. It isn't a life-threatening issue, so itis often pushed to one side. As hard as it may be, be grateful that your body is waving this red flag. Something is going on and we need to get to he ROOT of that problem. Of course, the viral rosemary oil and scalp massage are all well and good, but ultimately, we need to get things sorted from the ground up, in order to correct the hair loss for good.

  • Get your iron tested (ferritin, saturation, binding capacity, serum iron). It is so obvious, but many women I see still are suboptimal test don't guess. We also want to understand why this is happening.
    I run a full thyroid and nutrients panel with the majority of my clients that I find very informative. If you want to work together, get a head start and test your nutrients at home.

  • Investigate PCOS, thyroid, and underlying infections with your GP and endocrinologist, if you haven’t already. Then, work with me to support you through nutritional therapy and lifestyle changes.

  • Support your gut to ensure you are able to absorb your nutrients. Work on repairing and rebuilding the gut lining.

  • Vitamin A, zinc, vitamin D, omega-3 all play a role, directly or indirectly (to name a few). supplement according and aim to eat a diverse diet.

  • Rethink your entire self-care and stress management routine.

  • Balance your minerals.

  • Ensure you are eating enough and it aligns with how much you are moving.

  • Get your protein UP up up. aim for 100g min or 1g per lb of body weight.

  • Balance your blood sugar as insulin can impact hormones involved in shrinking the hair follicle if in excess.

  • Consider toxic load and endocrine disruptors.

  • Give it time. hair cycles are long, don't expect to see results overnight.
